Direct Rail Services has been named ‘Top Employer’ at the 2019 Women in Rail Awards. DRS’ engineer, Lisa Graham, was also shortlisted as ‘Female Apprentice of the Year’ at the prestigious event in London earlier this month.

New freight train service launched

Eddie Stobart announces the launch of its new train service hauled by Direct Rail Services, connecting the Port of Tilbury to Tesco’s site in Daventry, and then Daventry to Mossend, Scotland. Launched on the 3 September, this is Eddie Stobart’s first ever train service to run from the Port of Tilbury, with the capacity to travel with between 30 and 36 containers.

Class 88 named as Train of the Year 2018

Direct Rail Services (DRS), scooped their fourth award of the week, with their Class 88 locomotive being named as Train of the Year – freight/ mixed traffic at the prestigious National Rail Awards held in London on September 13. With over 1,200 attending, the event is one of the biggest events in the rail industry’s calendar.
